Aspartofthe7thChina-AfricaYouthFestival,Khoulyandover40youthrepresentativesfromAfricancountriesvisitedQingdaoPort,eastChina"sShandongprovince,toseetheautomatedQianwanContainerTerminal.
TheQianwanContainerTerminalhasthecapacitytoaccommodatecontainershipscapableofcarryingupto24,000twenty-footequivalentunits(TEUs)andisdesignedtohandle5.2millionTEUcontainersannually.Theterminal"sautomationtechnologyreducesworkforcerequirementsby80%,makingit30%moreefficientthantraditionalterminals.
Egyptiskeentodevelopitsshippingindustry,particularlygivenitslocationborderingtheMediterraneanSeaandfeaturingAlexandriaPortandtheSuezCanal.KhoulybelievesEgyptshouldlearnfromChina"sautomatedterminaloperations,whichhesaidwerehighlyefficientandconvenient.
Inaddition,KhoulysuggestedthatEgyptcooperatewithChinatoboostportdevelopmentandimprovebilateraltradelinks.KhoulycitedCOSCOShippingPortsLtd(CSPL),aHongKong-listedcompany,investing$375millionfora25%stakeinanewcontainerterminalatEgypt"sAinSokhnaPort.CSPLwilloperatetheprojectfor30years,andtheterminal"sthroughputcapacityisexpectedtoreach1.7millionTEUcontainersaftercompletion.
SpeakingofChinaandEgypt"srichhistoriesandabundanttourismresources,Khoulyhighlightedtheneedforthetwocountriestojointlypromotemoderntouristdevelopmentandattracttouriststoeachother"scountries.
"DirectflightsbetweenEgyptandChinashouldbeincreased,"Khoulysaid."EgyptshouldalsodrawonChina"sexperienceintourismmanagementandsafetyguarantees."
KhoulyalsodiscussedtheneedtoenhancethesynergybetweentheChina-proposedBeltandRoadInitiative(BRI)andEgypt"sVision2030toattractChineseinvestmentandstrengthenbilateraleconomicandtradeties.
OneoftheflagshipprojectsundertheBRIframeworkistheChina-EgyptTEDASuezEconomicandTradeCooperationZone,whichhasgraduallybecomeoneoftheimportantplatformsforChina-Egypteconomicandtradecooperation.
